Sesame chicken

Image
Sesame chicken with mee suah. There was an option to have rice instead of mee suah. Taste was okay but lackluster...not worth the RM16.90 for me.

Pan mee

Better than I expected. The dry chilli was the slightly crispy kind, I liked it. Unfortunately they didn't have cili padi. (Note: I sat downstairs so I took my own condiments. Not sure what they would give if it was delivered upstairs.)

Arab Street Express

The wrap tasted good, with a nice amount of sauce. They even gave chilli sauce, which I didn't use. But the meat was in chunks, instead of the usual slices of shawarma. Maybe because it's an express stall instead of the actual shop? The curly fries were very crispy indeed! It is worth noting that the dish took ages to arrive, even though there didn't seem to be any other orders at the stall. Maybe they just defrosted and fried those curly fries... The wrap alone costs RM12, and if we add curly fries, the total is RM16. I would say those fries are worth it, and the white sauce was awesome (I don't know what's inside) Update: I next tried the mandy rice with chicken shawarma. looks nice comes with soup (a bit oily) and a nice amount of sauce (I like the sauce!) It was decent. But the shawarma (I saw they had the pole at the stall) was sliced very roughly; there were huge chunks among the slices. Some parts tasted good but some parts were dry and hard. So I think the w...

Wok of Fury

Wanted to try the tai lok mee recommended by my friend, but it was sold out at dinnertime. So I tried the yee foo mee instead. Quite good. RM10.90 is a little pricey, they made up for it with two prawns and three squid rings. Besides that, there were fish cake slices. No pork, which is sad (this stall was in the non-halal section). Update: And here's the tai lok mee! (the stall calls it KL hokkien mee, by the way) It is not bad, but nowhere near as good as the one at Pisa Corner.

Japanese ramen

Forgot to take a photo when I tried the unagi ramen. It was mediocre ramen, as expected from a food court.

Ais kacang and cendol

Image
Just posting the pics since I have them. Not bad, but nothing special.

Penang Road Famous Laksa

Image
This should be from the stall next to the teochew cendol on Penang Road. Pretty good, but just like normal laksa, I guess.

Char kuey teow

Image
So-so.

New Cathay curry mee

Image
Quite good. Note: Previously the stall was Keong curry mee, it seems that the stall has changed to be New Cathay curry mee from Pulau Tikus.

Lao San Tong bak kut teh

Image
A bak kut teh from Butterworth (Raja Uda) that has a Michelin award (which they proudly display on their stall). I got a set because they seemed to have only sets on the menu...but checking Google now, it seems like they have à-la-carte items as well. I guess they just don't display it as prominently at the stall... There were three choices for the side dish: oiled veggies, Thai sauce fried tofu, or braised chicken feet (which I selected). I like the soup and the chicken feet. Very flavourful. As for internal organs, I think there were at least three pieces each of intestine and stomach. Good enough! And it seemed like they were the braised kind (braised and then put into the soup). I appreciated that they gave a separate bowl of soup, and covered it so that it wouldn't go cold so quickly. It was a miso soup bowl; I opened up the cover for the photo. What I didn't appreciate was that the soy sauce and dark soy sauce were mixed together in one compartment. So it was like the...

Lye Lee

I think this is from the shop at The One opposite Sunshine Square. I tried only one thing, which is the steamed hor fun with fish. (see edit below, I've tried more!) Looks nice, but does not taste so nice. It came with some greenish chilli/sambal instead of cili padi (which I might have preferred). I actually had difficulty finishing it. It is unfortunate, because we seldom find steamed hor fun... Maybe other dishes might be better, since I remember liking their noodles at The One. Update (29 March 2025): Tried their pork leg rice. Not bad, the chilli is nice.

Hoe Peng lor bak

Image
Famous lor bak in a kopitiam in Georgetown. This is good.

Sg Pinang duck drumstick mee suah

Image
This is good, the herbal soup is very flavourful.

Po Po fried oyster

Sorry, no photo. This was so-so.

Loh Kei duck meat kuey teow thng

Famous shop in Georgetown. Nice enough, but 7 tiao lor's is still better. :P

Pak Tam mee udang

Image
A famous stall that I have never visited. So I took the chance to try it out at Bayana. (This seems to be one of the rare stalls that doesn't have its price marked up compared to the original branch.) The mee kuah udang tastes the best.  (that's a bowl, not a shallow plate) The dry version below is less good. The cucur udang, which is really crispy, but I don't feel it is that good...pretty normal. And nasi goreng udang, on a day when I didn't feel like eating noodles. The nasi goreng is not that special, but the four prawns came with some kuah, and mixing that into the rice made it a lot better. (It's all about the prawny gravy!) Here's the menu that I snapped a photo of on 21st Nov 2025: (I'm stating the date because the menu was different before)

Hokkien mee

Image
I don't think the hokkien mee stall has a name...will update later if I find that it does. Lackluster. I didn't like it much. I appreciated the number of prawns given, though. :P Update (1 Feb 2026): I tried it again last week. I can't remember whether the stall name has changed, but the hokkien mee was different... rather tasteless. The soup was nowhere as red as the one in the photo.

CS House noodles

Image
There are a few kinds of soup noodles at this stall. sour and spicy milky noodles Nice. With cili padi in soy sauce on the side. Wish they gave a bit more fish though. (It's really just the three pieces you see in the photo.)
